Faculty Member, Philosophy
Chair of Department of Philosophy & Lecturer in Philosophy and the Law (W&L School of Law)
About
My primary research interests are in moral philosophy and early modern philosophy. Recent work has been on lying and deception, the interpretation of Kant and Mill, and early 20th century metaethics.
In the undergraduate college I have recently taught new courses on the Philosophy of Law and on Roe vs. Wade and the Abortion Question. This fall I will also be teaching a seminar in the law school on Jurisprudence.
I am currently working on papers on assertion and lying, on Descartes and deception by God, and on Kant's duty of beneficence. I also hope to complete a book manuscript on Kant on lies.
